POMFRET, CT - It's 6:30 AM on this July Morning at CT Audubon's Bafflin Sanctuary. Once again, it's that time of year when shades of purple begin to overtake the landscape at Mashamoquest Meadow. The meadow can be found at the corner of routes 169 and 101 in Pomfret. The parking area is easily found on the route 169 side next to an old red barn. The trail is mowed year-round but walkers can expect wet feet when visiting early summer mornings. On this particular day, I spotted Northern Mockingbird, American Goldfinch, Red-winged Blackbirds, Common Yellow-throat, Great Blue Heron (overhead), Tree Swallows, Barn Swallows, and bees.
