The last few weeks have brought numerous varieties of new life into the world.  The wood thrush, bluebird, house wren and phoebe hatchlings are mostly hidden by their respective nesting boxes, drain pipes and tree limbs so we haven't been able to see them grow up.  Parents’ dash in and out of the nests with food for the new arrivals but observation is limited. Robins, on the other hand, tend to nest in open places where they can be easily observed.  This short video condenses three weeks of rapid growth by three robin hatchlings.  The parent birds are always nearby and go to great lengths to keep their offspring safe and dry.   The babies quickly fill the small nest, leaving Mom and Dad to stand nearby, but they swoop in at the first sign of trouble.  During a torrential rainstorm we witnessed one of the parents shielding the little hatchlings with wings protectively spread over the nest.  Watching Baby Robins GrowKillingly, CT
