Five Mile River Birds
One of my favorite places for wildlife viewing is along the Five Mile River. Contrary to the name, the Five Mile River is actually about 23 miles long. It meanders through Thompson, Putnam and Killingly, CT before emptying into the Quinebaug River at Danielson. Birders won’t be disappointed. Just find any one of the countless access points where the river intersects with a road and wait. Images from this particular day revealed an Eastern Kingbird, Yellow Warbler, Mourning Dove and several Red-winged Blackbirds.
